In this position... As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a broader engineering organization of 15 to 50+ individuals to build, scale, and maintain high-impact technical solutions for a collection of teams. Operating as a leader of leaders, you will manage both Engineering Managers and Individual Contributors. You will focus on guiding product line architecture, aligning technical strategy with business goals, and ensuring cohesive design across disparate teams. You will act as a strategic driver for your domain, owning the overall delivery and operational health of your product line while autonomously navigating dependencies and calibrating performance across multiple teams. Based in Dearborn, MI, this is a hybrid position with a required four-day onsite presence each week. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Programming or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with deep expertise in designing, building, and maintaining complex, scalable systems.
  • 3+ years of direct engineering management experience, including proven experience managing both Engineering Managers and Individual Contributors.
  • 3+ years of experience in modern cloud architectures (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), distributed systems, and microservices.
  • 3+ years of experience aligning technical strategy with business goals and owning SLAs/KPIs for a business line or large-scale system.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience successfully managing engineering organizations of 15 to 50+ people.
  • A strong track record of driving technical discovery and ensuring cohesive system design across disparate teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross-product group architecture and collaborate effectively with Product Management and Design.
  • Demonstrated ability to calibrate performance and foster an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture across multiple distinct product teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an organization of 15 to 50+ individuals, including both Engineering Managers (EMs) and Individual Contributors (ICs).
  • Conduct EM and IC interviews and make critical hiring decisions to build a high-performing organization.
  • Own the SLAs, KPIs, and overall delivery for your product line.
  • Drive technical discovery and architecture for features within the product roadmap.
  • Guide and approve product line architecture.
  • Collaborate on product group and cross-product group architecture, ensuring cohesive design across disparate teams and aligning technology strategy with business goals.
  • Manage performance evaluations and calibrate performance across multiple teams to ensure fairness, equity, and a consistently high bar for engineering excellence.
  • Autonomously resolve cross-team dependencies and resource or priority conflicts to keep your organization executing smoothly.
