Senior Engineering Manager

About The Position

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager with deep roots in frontend engineering to join our engineering leadership team. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you'll own a cross-functional product engineering team, partner closely with Product and Design, and help shape how we build and scale our web platform. This is a high-leverage role at an early-stage company. You'll have real ownership, real impact, and a seat at the table as we continue to scale.

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundation in modern frontend development.
4+ years in an engineering management or team lead role, with a track record of growing engineers, scaling teams, and delivering results.
Experience at an early-stage startup. You understand the scrappiness required, the pace expected, and how to build durable systems amid ambiguity.
Strong technical judgment: you can assess tradeoffs, push back when needed, and make pragmatic decisions under pressure.
Excellent communication skills, allowing you to translate technical complexity for non-engineers and align stakeholders across product, design, and business.
A genuine bias for action and ownership. You don’t wait for permission, you spot problems and solve them.
Experience building and shipping production applications with a high bar for performance, reliability, and user experience.

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience with Vue.js, you’ve shipped production apps with it and have opinions on how to use it well.
Experience in fintech, proptech, or a regulated/security-conscious industry.
Familiarity with backend systems (Node.js, APIs, databases), you don’t need to be a backend engineer, but context helps.
Prior experience scaling an engineering team from 5 to 15 engineers.
Experience and perspective on how to leverage AI tooling in regulated environments with sensitive data.
Track record of building design systems, component libraries, or platform-level frontend Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Partner with Product and Design to define technical direction, scope projects, and deliver high-quality features on fast-moving roadmap.
Have the ability to be hands-on; Be able to dive in and write code, conduct code reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions alongside your team.
Drive engineering excellence and establish best practices in code quality, testing, performance, and accessibility for our web platform.
Own hiring for your team: identify gaps, engage with strong candidates from your network, and build a world-class engineering culture.
Communicate clearly with senior leadership on team progress, risks, and opportunities.
