About The Position

SeatGeek's finance stack supports the reporting and operationalization of billions of dollars in transactions and settlements across diverse revenue streams and dozens of production systems. The FinEng team is dedicated to managing the finance and accounting data generated across the business. This team is focused on rethinking and rebuilding systems that enhance the understanding of fan purchases, marketplace settlements, and unit economics, all contributing to SeatGeek's mission to be the premier destination for live event goers. As the company expands and its finance data use cases evolve, the stack must adapt and scale to meet new demands and increasing financial operational complexity. This role involves leading and shaping the vision for the team responsible for rebuilding systems that provide insights into fan purchases, marketplace settlements, and unit economics. It's an opportunity to transform how SeatGeek approaches financial operations by modernizing financial infrastructure and building teams and platforms that deliver trusted data.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a primary focus on coding.
  • 3+ years of experience as an engineering manager leading productive and motivated teams.
  • Proven track record of leading teams to deliver industry-leading user experiences that significantly enhance high-stakes customer interactions.
  • Demonstrated experience handling and processing transactional data at scale within a SOX-controlled environment.
  • Successfully built and led lean teams, ensuring productivity, motivation, and the ability to deliver impactful results.
  • Ability to foster safe, collaborative, and inclusive environments where engineers feel empowered.
  • Comfort operating without a predefined playbook, simultaneously defining architecture, team processes, and roadmaps.
  • Skill in breaking down complex technical concepts and explaining them clearly to non-technical audiences, accurately representing the team's work to diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the technology industry and financial tools/methods to guide the team in making sound tooling and framework decisions.
  • Understanding of leading by setting context, facilitating collaboration, and gaining buy-in from cross-functional partners in product, design, engineering, and leadership.
  • Past experience as an engineer, familiarity with the challenges of that role.
  • Hands-on experience with custom tools for automating financial operations and generating accurate financial reporting outputs.
  • Extensive hands-on transactional data experience and knowledge of finance and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software and data engineers who adopt an AI-first approach.
  • Own the technical vision for SeatGeek’s core financial systems, tools (custom and SaaS), and integrations.
  • Ensure the financial automation stack seamlessly integrates with upstream business tools and systems, translating information into the general ledger and billing systems.
  • Rapidly develop and iterate on tools to improve the quality and speed of interactions with finance data, fostering cross-functional partnerships with the broader engineering organization.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, completeness, and operational excellence across the platform.
  • Define and deliver the future architecture for SeatGeek’s financial automation stack, enabling it to excel with agentic interactions and capabilities.
  • Conduct code and architecture reviews, providing technical and design feedback to the team.
  • Provide regular job performance feedback, conduct one-on-ones, and offer career development support to direct reports.
  • Select new technology vendors and manage existing relationships, making build-or-buy decisions with the team.
  • Contribute directly to feature delivery and platform iteration when necessary.
  • Communicate technical and product decisions effectively, resolve blocking issues, and collaborate with other leaders across the organization.
  • Actively participate in the recruiting process to help grow the engineering team.
