The primary purpose of this position is to perform advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of Power plant operations. The role is responsible for technical decisions and requires excellent knowledge in the functional discipline and its practical application, along with detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Computer Science Engineer, Engineering Technology, etc,) with 5 years of power experience OR Associate’s degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, Engineering Technology, etc.) with 7 years of related technical experience OR High school diploma/GED with 8 years of power experience 5 of the 8 years must be at the exempt-level.
  • Working knowledge of engineering processes and systems required for the specific functional area.
  • Maintain minimum access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Strongly preferring Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of Siemans T3K and Controls.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of Power plant operations.
  • Responsible for technical decisions.
  • Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
  • Has completed assigned skills and knowledge development training (applicable Advanced Engineering, EPRI, and Constellation University training or industry provided training) to develop expert level of knowledge in designated areas.
  • Mentor other engineers in key knowledge and skills.
  • Provides initial or complete task management of engineering issues.
  • Perform engineering and technical tasks as assigned by supervision applying general engineering principles.
  • Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work ensuring proper configuration management and assuring that standard design criteria, practices, procedures and codes are used in preparation of plans and specifications.
  • Perform independent research, reviews, studies and analyses in support of technical projects and programs.
  • Recommends equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, simplify construction, reduce costs, correct design or material flaws, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
  • All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy or as directed by management to include but not limited to: (Department duty coverage and/or call out, and positions outside of department in support of outage activities etc.)
  • Support Operations and Maintenance in daily troubleshooting and controls-oriented challenges.
  • Provide technical support for projects including design, installation and oversight associated with our Conowingo and Muddy Run plants.
  • Review DCS trends to ensure Plant performance and reliability, providing input for adjusting plant alarm and trip settings.
  • Assure all engineering products (TPAs, DCPs, etc) are prepared in accordance with applicable procedures, industry codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support other engineers (mechanical, electrical, civil) as needed.
  • Support Hydro I&C Craft work activities.
