About The Position

AEO Employment Services CO LLC seeks a Senior Engineer to develop and deploy code across its eCommerce platform and backend retail applications. The position is fully remote, with work permitted anywhere in the United States. Periodic in-person attendance is required at a Pittsburgh or NYC headquarters, distribution center, or field location for interviews, orientation, and quarterly meetups. The engineer develops and maintains Java-based services and applications in a retail production environment; builds data pipelines to integrate systems, enable business intelligence, and apply business logic; and monitors, maintains, and optimizes cloud-native services for performance and reliability. The role also provides after-hours on-call support for business-critical issues. The position requires a bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly related field, plus five years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in a related position. Required experience includes three years in a consumer-facing retail environment and three years in each of the specified Java development, enterprise retail systems, large-scale release coordination, and testing areas. Experience may be concurrent. Starting pay is determined by factors including relevant experience and location. Requirements

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a directly related field.
Five years of post-baccalaureate, progressively responsible experience in a related position.
Three years of experience working in a consumer-facing retail environment.
Three years of experience developing and maintaining Java-based services and applications in a retail production environment.
Three years of experience with enterprise retail systems, including Inventory & Sourcing, Order Management Systems (OMS), and carrier-based Delivery Tracking systems.
Three years of experience coordinating large-scale releases for critical retail systems, including deployments during peak sales periods and ensuring system availability and rollback readiness.
Three years of experience facilitating and supporting unit, functional, end-to-end, and performance testing for customer-facing and operational retail systems, and addressing defects.
Experience requirements may be satisfied concurrently.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Java-based services and applications in a retail production environment.
Build data pipelines to integrate systems, enable business intelligence, and apply business logic.
Monitor, maintain, and optimize cloud-native services for performance and reliability.
Provide after-hours on-call support for business-critical issues.
Work with enterprise retail systems, including Inventory & Sourcing, Order Management Systems (OMS), and carrier-based Delivery Tracking systems, to enable accurate order routing, fulfillment visibility, and post-purchase experiences.
Coordinate large-scale releases for critical retail systems, including planning and executing deployments during peak sales periods while ensuring system availability and rollback readiness.
Facilitate and support unit, functional, end-to-end, and performance testing for customer-facing and operational retail systems, and address defects to maintain production integrity.
