About The Position

An engineering professional who, working with a high degree of independence, applies scientific knowledge, engineering knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to complete assignments related to a specific technical field or discipline in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry. A Senior Engineer has general knowledge of other related disciplines beyond their own area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferred), science, or a closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 5+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
  • A post-graduate education/degree is desired and may contribute towards the desired years of experience.
  • Has demonstrated competency within a discipline.
  • Possesses a strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.
  • Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Interacts and collaborates well with diverse groups of architects and engineers while maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external team members in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.
  • Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully their perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
  • Has a technical background in laboratory life sciences (preferred), health care, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biologics, or similar industries.
  • Has demonstrated competency with financial systems and fiscal control.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Independently plans and conducts small- to medium-sized assigned projects within engineering specialty requiring conventional types of plans, investigations, and/or equipment.
  • Manages multiple, often concurrent, projects and meets deadlines.
  • Responsible for achieving the project's financial targets in support of business objectives.
  • Maintains project controls and reporting for cost, scope and schedule; develops execution strategy including procurement.
  • Balances multiple demands.
  • Produces unique and cost-effective results.
  • Establishes alternate use possibilities and incorporates flexibility; balances system costs with benefits provided; oversees design work of internal and external consultants; creates or modifies designs for intermediate problems.
  • Integrates financial with technical data.
  • Analyzes complex interdisciplinary problems and identifies their impact; assesses uncertainty and risk; draws conclusions reflecting broad business needs.
  • Represents engineering on corporate task forces.
  • Identifies the full range of customer and client needs, proposes appropriate solutions, and adapts them to meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Monitors the improvement of other engineers and may participate in the evaluation of assigned staff/project team members and in the identification of development needs.
  • May supervise other engineers or technicians.
  • Uses established project management tools and techniques (Front-end planning (FEP), cash flow projections, scope/schedule control, etc.) to completely manage small projects (stay within authorized budget limits and achieve the overall project and organizational objectives).
  • Contributes to the development of project management best practices.
  • Directs and manages project execution by performing the work defined in the project plan to achieve project objectives.
