About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the complete maintenance of The Clinic's buildings and equipment to maximize their lifecycles and maintain or improve their functioning levels. The Senior Engineer will manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance and work order program, perform repairs on commercial kitchen equipment, HVACR systems, and plumbing systems, and undertake small construction projects. The position also involves training others, operating various tools and equipment safely, and maintaining buildings in good repair in compliance with codes and safety policies. The role requires responding to emergencies, demonstrating an understanding of developmental needs for various age groups, and maintaining punctual attendance and reliability.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA Universal Certification.
  • Licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Texas and be insurable by Menninger Clinic.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment in a kitchen environment.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in operation and maintenance of buildings.
  • Working knowledge of national and state codes.

  • Eligible to obtain HVAC Commercial Service I certificate. Must obtain within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to a comprehensive, fully operational preventative maintenance/work order program to ensure complete maintenance of The Clinic's buildings and equipment.
  • Accurately complete work orders.
  • Maintain all commercial kitchen equipment, including performing preventative maintenance and repairing issues.
  • Manage multiple responsibilities, projects, and tasks simultaneously, working under deadlines in stressful situations.
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making, operating without supervision when required.
  • Accomplish small construction projects using techniques such as framing, welding, and cutting.
  • Teach and train others through explanation, demonstration, or practice.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, welders, torches, and registered department vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain HVACR systems, including completing inspections, diagnosing and repairing failed units, and replacing key components.
  • Maintain plumbing systems, including completing inspections, maintaining proper operations, maintaining urinal operations, installing appliances and bathroom fixtures, and installing water piping and gas lines.
  • Maintain buildings in good repair and free of hazards in compliance with state and local codes and hospital safety policies.
  • Adhere to safety procedures regarding the use of tools, equipment, and electrical safety requirements.
  • Respond to all fire alarms and emergency codes as assigned.
  • Assure continuity of Facilities Management mission statement through punctual, regular attendance and reliability.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of developmental tasks and special needs for, and the ability to establish rapport with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults/geriatrics.
  • Complete other duties as requested, accepting additional assignments willingly and maintaining flexibility.
