Bank of America•Pennington, AL
•$122,000 - $200,000•Onsite

About The Position

At Bank of America, the Senior Engineer defines and leads engineering approaches for complex features that deliver significant business outcomes. The role provides technical thought leadership, enables development efficiencies, applies broad and deep technical expertise, and is accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery. The Senior Engineer will lead the design and implementation of Agentic AI across the software development lifecycle (SDLC), defining strategy, architecture, and an operating model using GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, and the Microsoft Agentic Framework. The work uses RAG, context and prompt engineering, and knowledge graphs to automate and improve developer workflows from planning through production. The role partners with product, platform, risk, and delivery teams to achieve measurable outcomes, support responsible use, and scale enterprise adoption. The position includes setting an enterprise roadmap; architecting agentic workflows and retrieval systems; delivering AI agents and Copilots; establishing data governance and LLMOps/MLOps practices; addressing security, compliance, and model risk; and leading developer enablement and adoption. The role is based at listed Bank of America office locations in Pennington, New Jersey, or New York, New York, within the company’s in-office culture. The stated schedule is first shift, 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in software engineering or architecture, including 2 or more years leading AI/LLM or intelligent automation solutions in production, ideally at enterprise scale.
  • Proven experience implementing Agentic AI solutions involving tool-use orchestration, planning, and memory/state, and integrating them with SDLC platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot, including organization-level policies, telemetry, and governance; Microsoft Copilot Studio, including plugins and connectors; and Azure AI Foundry, including Prompt Flow, evaluation and monitoring, safety, and compliance.
  • Deep knowledge of RAG, prompt and context engineering, and vector search; experience building knowledge graphs and integrating them into retrieval workflows.
  • Strong grasp of LLMOps/MLOps, including dataset curation, evaluation design, prompt/agent regression testing, observability, safety/guardrails, and rollout strategies.
  • Expertise with SDLC toolchains, including GitHub, CI/CD, IaC, testing frameworks, SAST/DAST, artifact repositories, service catalogs, and runbooks.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional programs, manage risk, and communicate with executive and engineering stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, data privacy, and secure software development practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in regulated industries and with Model Risk Management or similar governance.
  • Knowledge of enterprise search, graph databases, and metadata management.
  • Background with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, container orchestration such as Kubernetes, and policy-as-code.
  • Exposure to agent evaluation techniques such as task success, safety, toxicity, grounding fidelity, and hallucination rates, as well as A/B testing.

Responsibilities

  • Define the enterprise Agentic-AI-in-SDLC strategy, operating model, and multiyear roadmap in alignment with business objectives, enterprise architecture, and developer-productivity goals.
  • Prioritize backlog epics and features and drive cross-portfolio execution to accelerate value realization and adoption.
  • Architect agentic workflows using the Microsoft Agentic Framework and integrate them with issue trackers, repositories, CI/CD pipelines, quality and security gates, and observability platforms.
  • Design context architecture, including grounding data, state management, retrieval patterns, prompt templates, and caching.
  • Design RAG solutions using enterprise content, vector search, and knowledge graphs; define reference architectures and guardrails for Copilot-based coding, testing, and automation.
  • Lead delivery of AI agents that automate SDLC tasks such as requirements analysis, design reviews, test generation, traceability, code-quality enforcement, documentation updates, and release readiness.
  • Build Copilots with Copilot Studio, integrating plugins, enterprise search, and workflow actions; operationalize models in Azure AI Foundry with lifecycle support for evaluation, monitoring, safety, and CI/CD/CT pipelines for prompts and agents.
  • Define ontology and schema for domain knowledge graphs and integrate code metadata, service catalogs, architectural decisions, and control libraries into retrieval ecosystems.
  • Establish data governance for retrieval sources, including sensitive-data handling, residency and retention requirements, and high-quality grounding pipelines.
  • Establish LLMOps practices for prompt and version management, quality, safety, bias, and hallucination evaluation, and offline and online experiments such as A/B tests.
  • Maintain golden datasets and benchmarks aligned with SDLC objectives such as improving code quality, reducing vulnerabilities, and reducing MTTR.
  • Partner with Risk, Legal, Privacy, InfoSec, and Model Risk to define responsible-AI patterns, including policy-as-code controls, auditable logs, data-boundary enforcement, content safety, and human-in-the-loop review.
  • Navigate governance and control processes to meet regulatory and model-risk expectations.
  • Lead developer onboarding, enablement, and communities of practice by sharing prompt patterns, reusable tools, and exemplars.
  • Track and communicate value through KPIs and OKRs and provide progress updates and insights to executive stakeholders.
