About The Position

Tempur Sealy is seeking a Senior Engineer to serve as the operations-focused engineering owner for new product development (NPD) projects, ensuring alignment across Product Development, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams. The role involves leading the transition of new products from development into manufacturing, ensuring designs are producible, scalable, and meet operational requirements. This position requires collaboration with product development teams to ensure adherence to engineering best practices, identification and mitigation of risks early in the development cycle, and acting as the primary liaison between engineering and manufacturing/operations. The Senior Engineer will independently manage complex projects, provide technical guidance to other engineers, and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product launches and manufacturing integration. The role also involves identifying and addressing process inefficiencies and product deficiencies, ensuring all work meets high standards, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field required.
  • 3–5 years of progressive engineering experience, preferably in: New Product Development (NPD), Manufacturing or Operations-facing engineering roles, Product, Process, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Proven experience leading or owning product launches into manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of cross-functional development processes, including design reviews, pilot builds, and production ramp-up.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and leadership teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • PE certification or specialized training is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the operations focused engineering owner for all new product development (NPD) projects, from concept through manufacturing launch.
  • Ensure alignment across Product Development, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Lead the transition of new products from development into manufacturing, ensuring designs are producible, scalable, and meet operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to ensure that new products are designed and manufactured according to engineering’s best practices.
  • Identify potential manufacturability, process, and product risks early in the development cycle and drive corrective actions.
  • Function as the primary conduit between engineering and manufacturing/operations, translating design intent into executable production processes.
  • Independently manage complex engineering projects with limited oversight, balancing technical, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Provide leadership, feedback, and technical guidance to engineers and other engineering functions on their projects to support execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product launches, development processes, and manufacturing integration, ensuring employees are trained in new procedures.
  • Identify current and potential process inefficiencies and product deficiencies.
  • Iterate on and develop ideas and solutions for such issues.
  • Ensure that all work completed or overseen meets or exceeds the highest professional, regulatory, quality, and our company’s standards.
