About The Position

The Senior Engineer provides deep technical leadership, domain specialization and expertise in Critical Environments engineering and operations, and sets direction in developing and implementing solutions to address emerging business needs and strategies and advances the operation and overall design architecture and technology capabilities of critical environments infrastructure in accordance with industry developments. The job also is influential to Senior Leaders and provides guidance and governance to other technology real estate partners, 3rd party service providers groups and business areas. This is a top technical individual contributor expert role with knowledge of specific domain or broad range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures, as well as broader organization issues and relevant technology. The role requires advanced and highly specialized knowledge of TD's critical environments, applications, mechanical and electrical support systems, technology network and server room spaces, data centers, innovation, design activities, best practices, business / organization, develop and manage best-in-class standards and practices for risk mitigation, and may fulfill a governance role. The engineering specialist is assigned to work autonomously on high profile, complex and/or high risk technology initiatives with significant impact to the organization. This role provides technical leadership / consulting / direction to a larger team, internal real estate partners and 3rd party services providers on all aspects of critical environments engineering and operations. The Senior Engineer is accountable to maximize physical infrastructure systems 7x24 uptime at TD’s data centres and critical facilities on a day-to-day basis through the provision of professional operational and maintenance practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Graduate degree
  • Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering)
  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • Must be detail oriented and possess problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and establish priorities
  • Proficient in interpersonal communication (both oral and written), with the strong the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management
  • Requires availability outside regular business hours to respond to critical incidents and to provide technical support along with emergency escalations( if required)

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years related experience in the field of Critical Environments will be considered
  • Experience supporting engineering and operations across multiple locations hosting Critical Environments spaces and infrastructure
  • Experience in the preparation and process management of complex operating procedures (i.e., EOPs, SOPs, MOPs)
  • Experience navigating as a lead contact for incident management during significant risk events
  • Expert knowledge of specific domain or broad range of engineering frameworks, electrical and mechanical systems, technology, tools, the development and organization of complex processes and procedures and risk control processes, as well as broader organization issues and relevant critical technology supporting systems
  • Advanced and highly specialized knowledge of critical environments, applications supporting operations (e.g., BAS, EPMS), mechanical and electrical support systems, technology network and server room spaces, data centers
  • Ability to provide guidance on technical matters

  • Accountable to maximize physical infrastructure systems 7x24 uptime at TD’s data centres and critical facilities on a day-to-day basis through the provision of professional operational and maintenance practices.
  • Respond to emergencies, escalations, inquiries from business unit staff and from 3rd party service providers.
  • Investigating incidents and preparing root cause analysis reporting (RCAR).
  • Respond to critical incidents and to provide technical support along with emergency escalations (if required).
