About The Position

As a Transmission Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and supporting transmission infrastructure that powers utility-scale wind and solar energy projects. A typical day involves evaluating transmission line designs, identifying value engineering opportunities, supporting estimating and procurement efforts, and reviewing engineering deliverables to ensure projects are cost-effective, constructible, and technically sound. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, estimating, supply chain, and project teams while providing technical leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary group of electrical, mechanical, and civil engineers. This role offers the opportunity to influence projects from the proposal stage through execution while helping deliver innovative and reliable energy solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited college required.
  • At least 5 years of design experience in a related energy or construction industry, including design and construction experience of electrical transmission lines.
  • In depth transmission line design experience ranging from 69kV to 500kV and experience in PLS-CADD modeling and other related programs for transmission line design required.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required for the ability to travel for procurement and project-based purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering License with an emphasis on Electrical Engineering.
  • Surveying and renewables-focused experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follows and maintains local regulatory requirements and utilizes prudent engineering practice to develop and substantiate multiple conceptual and 10% transmission line designs that are safe, reliable, and economical based with minimal information and in an expeditious manner.
  • Develops bill of materials, reviews Owner provided RFP documentation/specifications, performs takeoffs, and identifies engineering risks/opportunities.
  • Collaborates across company departments, with outside vendors, suppliers, and technical firms to explore innovative ideas, methods, materials, software, and technologies that promote safety, quality, save cost, increase efficiency, and provide strategic benefits.
