About The Position

Our Consulting Services team provides global expertise to external clients and internal business units across the entire spectrum of power generation, delivery, and utilization. We specialize in complex power system studies, including shunt and series compensation, FACTS, HVDC, synchronous condensers, STATCOMs, and advanced dynamic controls for the modern grid. As a Senior Engineer within the Technical and Planning Solutions (TPS) practice area, you will be a key contributor to business initiatives supporting the energy transition. You will leverage your technical expertise to solve complex power system challenges, providing actionable insights that drive grid reliability and renewable integration.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus) or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of industry experience performing short-circuit, transient, steady-state, and dynamic analysis.
• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering/Power Systems (no industry experience required).
• Demonstrated application of industry-standard tools (e.g., PSLF, PSS®E, PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, PowerFactory, ASPEN OneLiner, DSATools).
• Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or FORTRAN for simulation automation and data analysis.
• Solid understanding of inverter-based resource (IBR) control systems and familiarity with Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) standards (e.g., PJM, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, SPP).

Nice To Haves

• Advanced experience in developing/modifying dynamic user-defined models in PSS®E, PSLF, or PSCAD.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for advanced software scripting and automation.
• Demonstrated ability to apply complex mathematics to real-world power system stability problems.
• Proven project management skills and experience managing technical client deliverables.
• Background in Data Center load studies or industrial power system design.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex transmission system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, stability, and voltage analysis.
• Support the integration of renewable energy and battery storage, evaluating grid code compliance and system impact for bulk power networks.
• Perform detailed electromagnetic transient (EMT) and steady-state studies; develop advanced user-defined equipment models.
• Lead proposal development and client communications. Translate complex technical findings into clear, value-driven reports and executive presentations.
• Act as a subject matter expert. Enhance industry knowledge by presenting at regional forums, conferences, and participating in IEEE/CIGRE working groups.
• Foster a culture of quality, innovation, and teamwork within a global, cross-functional environment.
