This role is responsible for leading the support of HMSA's storage infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, and implementing enhancements. The position involves developing Reference Architectures and technology standards, implementing and securing Storage, Backups, and SAN infrastructure, and performing advanced maintenance, data replication, disaster recovery, and data migration. The engineer will also develop documentation for Open Systems Storage and Backup environments and support complex Storage and Backup devices, including SAN, NAS, and Backup solutions, with minimal supervision in highly secure, highly available, operations-centric datacenter environments. Additionally, the role provides technical expertise across business functions, consulting with other Information Systems Department teams, reviewing and recommending IT infrastructure changes, leading project planning, and identifying the need for support contracts. The engineer will also coordinate with vendors, manage asset disposal procedures, design infrastructure replacement plans, monitor Key Performance Indicators, troubleshoot complex issues, and participate in long-term infrastructure strategy and planning. The position requires participation in rotating on-call support schedules, providing after-hours support, supporting remote locations across the Hawaiian Islands (including overnight travel), and mentoring less experienced staff. Continuing education and training are required to maintain an updated knowledge base. Miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned are also part of the role.
