About The Position

Senior Engineer, Product Development Engineering The Role Our Hillsboro site is seeking a Product Development Engineer to support the analytical and experimental development of polyurethane composite materials used in advanced manufacturing applications. The engineer will own the development, validation, and transfer of polymer characterization methods, as well as the technical understanding of structure–property relationships that influence product performance and manufacturability. This position requires technical expertise in polymer science, analytical methods, and data interpretation. The successful candidate will work cross‑functionally with R&D and Manufacturing Engineering to drive new product development, scale‑up, and continuous improvements grounded in deep scientific understanding of our chemistries. A background in polymer chemistry, material characterization, or polymer formulation science is required. What You’ll Do Lead polymer characterization activities for new product development, including method selection, test design, data interpretation, and reporting. Perform analytical techniques such as DSC, TGA, DMA, FTIR, rheology, mechanical testing, microscopy, and other polymer evaluation methods. Design and execute lab‑scale experiments, formulation trials, and material evaluations to understand structure–property relationships and support material selection. Summarize complex data into clear presentations and technical reports, including hypotheses around outliers, variability, and next-step recommendations. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure polymer insights drive product and process optimization. Support scale‑up and commercialization by defining critical material attributes and establishing control strategies. Identify opportunities to improve laboratory methods, data quality, and analytical efficiency; champion scientific rigor and best practices in polymer characterization. Contribute to laboratory safety, method documentation, and operational excellence. What We Seek Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry and 5+ years of related experience required. Hands-on experience with polymer characterization and data analysis (JMP preferred) Experience with polymer formulation develop and qualification. Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical teams. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification. Outstanding Candidates Will Have Masters or PhD in Materials Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry Polyurethane formulation and/or composite formulation experience. Experience leading analytical method development for polymeric materials. Strong background in rheology, thermal analysis, spectroscopy, or microscopy. Proven ability to drive improvements in test methods, data quality, and material performance. At Entegris, we want you to be part of our culture, which values your unique talents, skills, and experiences. We believe what we do is as important as how we do it. People at our company bring their true selves to work, and are appreciated not only for what they do, but for who they are.
