About The Position

Valkyrie Enterprises is seeking a Senior Multi-Discipline Engineer or Analyst at NSWC Crane, IN, for weapon system development, planning and analysis. The role involves providing engineering development, integration, test, verification, and analysis expertise for weapon system development. The successful candidate will serve as a project/engineering lead, coordinate with customers, and develop advanced methods to solve complex military system design requirements and problems. This position requires comprehensive knowledge to resolve complex problems and provide solutions, continuous collaboration, and mentoring of team members. The role also includes assisting in monitoring program financial performance, preparing status reports, identifying and mitigating program risks, and ensuring efficient resource allocation and budget management. Specific tasks may include performing or leading trade studies, developing and integrating models and tools for system design and analysis, developing interfaces for simulation architectures, performing verification and validation on M&S and HWIL efforts, reporting analysis results, and integrating models into system-level analysis architectures. Additionally, the role involves translating systems/capabilities/algorithms into models for integrated system performance analysis, developing and executing aerodynamic models and simulations, analyzing trajectory and aerodynamic data, and developing and executing threat trajectories and signatures.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or related field, preferred.
  • At least 10 years of related experience, preferred.
  • Experience with real-time Simulations and HWIL testing, preferred.
  • Experience with HWIL equipment, such as Flight Motion Simulators (FMS), Anechoic Chambers, Scene Generators, Scene Projectors, Scene Injection, Data Links, Radio Frequency (RF) Communications, Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT), and High-Bandwidth Real Time (RT) interfaces, preferred.
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) programs, preferred.
  • Experience with electro-optics, infrared, radar frequency (RF), or relevant fields, preferred.
  • Experience in modeling and/or assessing EO/IR and RF targets and countermeasures, preferred.
  • Experience with electromagnetics, radar, or similar relevant field, preferred.
  • Experience with EO/IR and RF modeling and analysis, preferred.
  • Ability to implement threat, sensor, or weapon functionality/algorithms into M&S, preferred.
  • Experience in modeling and/or assessing radar targets and countermeasures, preferred.
  • Proficient with Python, Matlab, C+, C#, Java, or similar programming languages, preferred.
  • Experience with radar cross section (RCS) modeling and analysis, preferred.
  • Proficiency with high-performance computing (HPC) resources, preferred.
  • Experience with Optical Signatures Code/OPTISIG EO/IR codes, preferred.
  • Experience with XPATCH, Lucernhammer, or equivalent RF codes, preferred.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering development, integration, test, verification and analysis expertise to activities for weapon system development.
  • Serve as a project/engineering lead and coordinate with customers.
  • Develop and apply advanced methods in investigation and find solutions for difficult military system design requirements and problems.
  • Plan, conduct, and direct projects including coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical staff in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate system capabilities.
  • Collaborate continuously and mentor team members and others.
  • Assist in monitoring program financial performance, including cost, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Prepare regular program status reports for senior leadership and government customers.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks while developing contingency plans.
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation and budget management.
  • Plan and conduct trade studies, analysis of alternatives, and capability analysis.
  • Develop, integrate, and execute new and/or modified models and tools used for system design trades and analysis.
  • Develop and integrate appropriate interfaces for simulation architectures.
  • Perform verification, validation, and anchoring on M&S and HWIL efforts.
  • Report results of analysis with recommendations for improving M&S and HWIL.
  • Perform integration and configuration control of models (developed in-house and customer provided) into system-level analysis architecture.
  • Translate systems/capabilities/algorithms into models to support integrated system performance analysis.
  • Develop, integrate and execute aerodynamic models and simulations to characterize advanced missiles and threats.
  • Analyze the data from the trajectories and aerodynamic data to assess model and simulation accuracy.
  • Develop, integrate, and execute threat trajectories and signatures into system level models and simulations.
