We are seeking to fill a new role of Senior Engineer for our Mechanical Engineering department. This position can be based out of our Collingwood, Barrie or Guelph office. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing mechanical engineering designs and projects serving a range of sectors including but not limited to Commercial, Institutional, Industrial, and Municipal Buildings. These projects involve multiple systems such as HVAC, domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, building automation and fire protection systems. Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations are required to complete these projects. Work assignments may include design of mechanical systems for buildings, condition assessments of existing systems, report writing, performing site inspections, and providing direction to contractors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for mentoring junior staff, project management and business development, and collaborating on multi-disciplinary projects with clients, architects, and other design team members.

Requirements

  • P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in the consulting industry
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, and associated standards including ASHRAE, CSA and NFPA.
  • Detailed engineering experience with mechanical systems including preparation of calculations and reports, equipment selection, and design of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems.
  • Experience preparing specifications for equipment and associated systems
  • Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, REVIT, Carrier HAP or similar)
  • Full knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills
  • Experience mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineering staff
  • Enthusiasm to work in a team structure and a willingness to guide, help and collaborate with others

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with decarbonization and energy efficiency retrofits would be an asset
  • Experience with business development would be an asset
