About The Position

Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United), now part of Aecon Group Inc., is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear power plant projects. The role involves preparing modification packages for mechanical systems within the nuclear power industry. Aecon is an EPC company with a focus on designing and building infrastructure for the future, particularly in the nuclear, conventional generation, renewable, and power delivery markets.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
• Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience (4 years nuclear) in the mechanical engineering field.
• The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
• U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

Nice To Haves

• NANTeL Certified in the Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in US
• Experience with fluid flow software (AFT FATHOM, or Equivalent)
• Experience with Fire Protection and Detection Systems

Responsibilities

• Develop design modification packages for mechanical systems at a nuclear power plant.
• Perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, HVAC sizing, heat load analysis, and pressure loss calculations.
• Develop mechanical design and procurement specifications.
• Prepare engineering drawings such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID), General Arrangement (GA), Equipment Plan, Piping Orthographic and Isometric drawings.
• Develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
• Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
• Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
