The test equipment supports different Electro-optical Infrared (EOIR) system variants produced in the McKinney, TX Consolidated Manufacturing Center. This is a first shift role (start times vary between 7am to 9am) and standard workdays starting Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend support with options for 9/80 work schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience reading drawings, datasheets, and system specifications
  • 2 years hands-on experience maintaining/repairing test equipment and troubleshooting test equipment issues
  • 2 years experience working in a factory environment
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing experiments to troubleshoot failures or investigate production issues such as Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations
  • Hands-on experience building or reworking/repairing using mechanical assembly hand tools (e.g. socket set, ball drivers, torque wrench).
  • Basic mechanical engineering knowledge such as mechanical mechanisms (i.e. gears, actuators, etc.)
  • Familiarity with fiber optics, experience in physically performing optical alignments, experience setting up and maintaining optical test equipment including calibration efforts
  • Basic electrical engineering knowledge such as understanding of Op-Amps, Multiplexers, ADC/DA, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot test equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Investigate failure trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to address systemic issues
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of optical and mechanical equipment
  • Post-delivery factory support of test equipment
  • Support daily factory needs to maintain equipment uptime such as preventative maintenance and troubleshooting and resolving test equipment failures
  • Work initiatives focused on reducing cycle time, minimizing touch time, and optimizing overall production costs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges in production
  • Operate and utilize standard electrical equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, etc.) to support troubleshooting and system evaluations
  • Carrying out appointed tasks with minimal supervision
  • Engage with supplier(s) for test equipment purchases and troubleshooting needs
  • Evaluate test results of complex test equipment and determine root cause of failures.
  • Give directions for reworking and retesting failed assemblies.
  • Track trends to detect systemic problems.
  • Work closely with multiple functions such as manufacturing engineering, factory operations, and quality engineers to develop improvements in areas like yields, test procedures, cycle time, etc.
