About The Position

Entegris is seeking a Materials Quality Engineer for the Ultra High Purity gas purification systems business in San Louis Obispo, CA. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver consistent high quality raw materials to our manufacturing operations. You will assess and manage supplier risk, performance, and improvement. You will implement effective supplier corrective actions, assess proposed supply changes, and drive continuous quality improvements to ensure a robust raw material supply chain for Entegris and our end-use customers. You must be able to work with significant autonomy and independent judgement as part of the global Materials Quality Engineering organization. You will have the interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships with both our critical/strategic suppliers and internal customers as you collaborate with Procurement, Operations, R&D, and Customer Quality.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience work experience in chemical or materials production environment with core competency in manufacturing, quality, and/or production management.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically or internationally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Skill in concise and clear verbal and written communications and experience with front line supplier and customer interactions.
  • Ability to analyse, synthesize, and summarize complex data sets to drive clear decision making and action with cross-functional groups and leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Six sigma knowledge preferred.
  • Experience within semiconductor industry a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve incoming fabricated metal and electronic part quality issues by driving supplier quality investigations. Implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Analyse, synthesize, and summarize complex data sets to drive clear decision making and action with cross-functional groups.
  • Lead projects to evaluate the technical risk of supplier notified changes (management of change) and execute implementation.
  • Drive raw material supplier improvement using supplier assessment/audits, scorecards, measurement systems analysis, control plan development, SPC, FMEA, continuous improvement projects, and six sigma projects.
  • Develop and maintain part specifications, certificate of analysis acceptance criteria, analytical test methods, and quality documentation.
  • Provide strategic technical solutions to close material performance gaps and improve supply chain value for Entegris.
  • Proactively assess and plan risk mitigation strategies (business continuity planning) with procurement.
  • Contribute to success of new product development (NPD) by evaluating new materials’ capability and working closely with the business unit.
  • Use clear and concise verbal and written communication with supplier contacts, internal stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with technical external supplier contacts.
  • Train suppliers on semiconductor industry quality expectations and key requirements.
  • Build effective working relationships across the factory and company.
  • Support Entegris ISO and customer maintenance audit activities.
