Senior Engineer II, Electrical Projects
About The Position
The Senior Engineer II, Electrical Projects, is responsible for overseeing the electrical systems design for onshore wind, solar, and storage projects from development to handover to operations. This role involves designing balance of plant packages, providing engineering project support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to Operations, ensuring grid code compliance and interconnection requirements, and specifying and evaluating major balance of plant electrical equipment. The position also includes performing power system modeling and studies, coordinating project engineering topics during construction, managing 3rd party engineering consultants, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the role supports NERC Compliance documents and studies, ensures the highest level of health, safety, and environmental protection in designs, and supports the development of electrical engineering standards, processes, and procedures.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college engineering program
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience (post-undergraduate) in electrical engineering
- Specific areas of experience and competency include transmission design, substation design, collection and distribution design, major equipment specification, power system studies, and system protection and control
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage customer relationships
- Demonstrated desire to learn about the Company and the renewables space
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams
- Strong leadership, communication, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multitask while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, is easy to challenge and develop, and is coachable
- Is detail-oriented, has strong business acumen, and a sound understanding of business concepts
