About The Position

SimplePractice, LLC is seeking a Senior Engineer I to join our team. This role involves working on the front-end with a strong emphasis on the back-end to develop new features from conception to completion, including architecture design, coding, and testing. You will be instrumental in building out the next generation of our practice management platform. This position requires close collaboration with our Product team to understand customer needs, troubleshoot issues, and define future features. The ideal candidate will write clean, efficient, and well-tested code, contribute to diagnosing problems, and architecting solutions. A key aspect of this role is utilizing expert knowledge in Ruby on Rails and extensive backend experience to roll out numerous features and service improvements. Additionally, you will build and maintain features using AI/ML, refine input prompts for Large Language Models, and work with modern JavaScript Frameworks like Ember.js. The role also involves designing and implementing large, scalable web applications with clean code, and managing the entire lifecycle of Rails applications from idea to production. Collaboration with remote teams using tools like Linear, Github, Slack, and Hangouts is essential. Familiarity with web application security, best practices, Linux (CentOS/RHEL), Chef for infrastructure management, and compliance standards like PCI/HIPAA is required. You will also manage databases such as MySQL, Postgres, Redis, and NGINX, and work with production environments to troubleshoot problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus 8 years of full life cycle development experience including coding, and testing utilizing Ruby on Rails; OR Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus 6 years of full life cycle development experience including coding, and testing utilizing Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience developing software architecture.
  • Experience in at least one modern JavaScript Framework specifically Ember.js and the ecosystem around this framework.
  • Experience in reporting and analytics.
  • Experience designing and implementing large, scalable web applications using clean, and simple code.
  • Experience taking Rails apps from idea to shipped to production.
  • Understanding of Test Driven Development.
  • Experience with working with remote teams, using Linear/Github/Slack/Hangouts to collaborate.
  • Understanding of web application security and best practices.
  • Knowledge of managing MySQL/Postgres/Redis/NGINX.
  • Experience working with production environments to help troubleshoot problems.
  • Experience with Linux CentOS/RHEL.
  • Experience with infrastructure management via Chef.
  • Experience with compliance standards PCI/HIPAA.
  • Experience with AI/ML.

Responsibilities
