About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer specializing in Calibration and Metrology. This role is crucial for leading and enhancing the organization's calibration and measurement systems, ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and traceability of equipment used in demanding aerospace, defense, and high-reliability manufacturing settings. The position acts as the primary technical contact for calibration compliance, metrology, measurement systems, equipment validation, audits, and continuous improvement efforts within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Engineering, Calibration, Metrology, or related experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, semiconductor, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of calibration and metrology principles.
  • Strong understanding of measurement systems and traceability.
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and process improvement.
  • Strong understanding of internal auditing and quality management systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3) is required due to U.S. Export Controls.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and continuously improve the site calibration and metrology program.
  • Ensure calibration compliance and measurement traceability for inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
  • Support calibration scheduling, equipment recalls and tracking of overdue equipment.
  • Lead investigations of out-of-tolerance equipment and assess potential product impact.
  • Support validation and qualification of new inspection, test, and production equipment.
  • Conduct internal audits and support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Lead and support corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Analyze quality and calibration metrics to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Evaluate and monitor external calibration service providers.
  • Provide technical guidance and training related to calibration, measurement systems, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Quality teams to improve process capability and measurement effectiveness.
