Senior Engineer I, Mechanical, Projects

Phillips 66•Houston, TX
•$140,400 - $171,600

About The Position

The Senior Engineer I, Mechanical, Projects serves as the owner’s engineer and mechanical project resource for fixed equipment and piping scope within Phillips 66’s Refining Business Unit Projects organization. The position provides technical support, helps maintain quality and completeness expectations, and reviews key mechanical deliverables developed by EPC contractors, vendors, fabricators, and third-party engineering firms. This project-focused mechanical engineering role applies technical knowledge and practical industry experience to capital project development and execution. It verifies that mechanical designs, specifications, material selections, fabrication approaches, inspection plans, and execution strategies are technically sound, safe, reliable, constructible, economical, and aligned with Phillips 66 standards, business objectives, and Management of Change requirements. The engineer needs working knowledge of fixed equipment and piping activities across front-end loading, detailed design, procurement, fabrication, construction, and closeout. The position works with project personnel, management teams, less experienced engineers, and engineering contractors to improve deliverable quality and consistency. The successful candidate is expected to work with growing independence, own assigned scopes, lead complex project tasks, and help guide junior engineers. Domestic travel to Phillips 66 plants may be up to 30% of the time, with potential international travel to fabricators or contractors.
