Senior Engineer Generation Interconnection

MISOLittle Rock, AR

About The Position

As a Senior Engineer – Generator Interconnection, you’ll play an important role in evaluating new and changing generation across the MISO footprint. You’ll perform and manage power system studies that help determine how generation can reliably interconnect to the transmission system while serving as a technical resource for MISO’s interconnection customers, Transmission Owners, and neighboring RTOs. This role combines technical power system analysis, project ownership, problem-solving, and customer interaction. Depending on your assignments, you may also serve as the project manager for system impact studies, helping coordinate studies from kickoff through completion and keeping multiple stakeholders aligned along the way. In this role, you will: Manage and perform system impact studies for generator interconnection requests in MISO’s Generator Interconnection Queue, evaluating the reliability impacts of connecting new resources to the transmission system. Review and evaluate projects proposed by MISO’s Transmission Owners, providing technical recommendations based on power system analysis and established reliability requirements. Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned projects, communicating study results, technical requirements, and project details to interconnection customers, Transmission Owners, neighboring RTOs, and internal teams. Generator interconnection is at the center of a rapidly changing electric grid. In this role, your studies won’t simply live in a report—they’ll help determine how new generation projects move forward, what transmission improvements may be needed, and how MISO continues to maintain a reliable system as the generation fleet evolves. You’ll have the opportunity to build deep technical expertise while gaining exposure to customers, Transmission Owners, neighboring grid operators, and teams across MISO. If you enjoy combining power system engineering with project ownership and collaboration, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of the grid. At MISO, your work helps ensure the reliable operation and continued evolution of one of the world's largest and most complex electric grids. In this role, you'll have an opportunity to help shape how MISO responds to rapidly growing large-load demand while strengthening the connection between where the grid is headed and what it needs to reliably deliver today. MISO manages the electricity superhighway in the Central U.S. Using groundbreaking research and sophisticated technology, our highly skilled employees ensure power flows reliably to 47 million people throughout North America. Operating the electricity grid, running a robust energy market, and planning for a bright future – it’s what our immensely hard-working and dedicated team does every day. Join #TeamMISO to be a driving force as we build the grid of the future.
