About The Position

We are currently seeking a Senior Fixed Equipment Mechanical Integrity (FEMI) Engineer to join our Central Engineering team in Sudbury. The role is a permanent position for an existing vacancy. As a FEMI Senior Engineer, you will provide mechanical integrity technical authority for Fixed Equipment (pressure vessels, tanks, piping, boiler, etc.) in Ontario Operations, ensuring compliance with TSSA, API and ASME requirements, and supporting safe, reliable operation.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) eligibility or registration in Ontario.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in refinery, petrochemical, or heavy process industries, especially in fixed equipment or materials engineering roles
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and technical standards: O.Reg 220/01, CSA B51, TSSA Code Adoption Document, ASME VIII, ASME B31.1/31.3, API 510/570/653/579, CSA W59/W47.1
  • Materials and damage‑mechanism expertise (corrosion mechanisms such as MIC, acid gas, chloride; wear/erosion; materials of construction)
  • Ability to work in field environments (competency, not experience)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Excel, Word and Power Point).

Nice To Haves

  • CWB Welding Engineer certification or eligibility, API 510/570/653 certification support or eligibility, and NACE certification or eligibility are considered assets.
  • Previous owner‑operator refinery experience (asset)
  • Field experience, including working in operating environments and traveling to sites
  • Cross‑functional experience working directly with inspectors, operations, and maintenance
  • Exposure to corrosion mechanisms such as sulphuric acid corrosion and chloride SCC (if this exposure occurred through past roles)
  • Knowledge of materials selection and damage‑mechanism behaviour in mining or metallurgical operations

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical authority for fixed equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems, tanks, and relief devices.
  • Maintain and execute the FEMI program in alignment with API 510, API 570, API 653, and API 571 requirements.
  • Support inspection planning and RBI, including interval setting, damage‑mechanism reviews, fitness‑for‑service screening (API 579), and preparation of technical reports for authorities.
  • Provide technical input to maintenance and capital planning, covering scope development, specifications, repair strategies, inspections, and participation in investigations, MOCs/PHRs, standards work, CCVs, and DML mapping.
  • Conduct failure analysis and materials engineering, including root‑cause investigations, damage mechanism assessment, and materials selection/specification for new and existing plant equipment.
