About The Position

PACCAR is seeking a Senior Diagnostic Engineer to the development of guided diagnostic procedures and vehicle diagnostic software for heavy-duty commercial vehicle electronics. This role supports product launch, drives continuous improvement, and collaborates across engineering, manufacturing, service, validation, IT, and suppliers to deliver reliable, user-focused diagnostic tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience with automotive electronic systems, including substantial hands‑on work with on‑ and off‑board diagnostics.
  • Experience in automotive electronic systems, preferably including extensive on- and off-board diagnostics development.
  • Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939 and LIN preferred.
  • Experience with software development using object-oriented programming will be highly valued. - Python, Java, C++, C#, JavaScript/Typescript, Ruby, Swift
  • Candidates must be able to perform in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 5%
  • Experience with Agile Scrum, continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma methods.
  • Active participation in professional organizations such as SAE, ASME, or IEEE.
  • Experience creating simplified technical drawings and diagrams for production and service.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and implement diagnostic algorithms, software, interfaces, and toolset solutions.
  • Provide architectural direction for diagnostic systems and toolset capabilities, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with business and technical needs.
  • Develop guided diagnostic procedures using a visual logic development environment and Agile methods.
  • Own and evolve diagnostic toolset requirements, standards, and implementation approaches in collaboration with global stakeholders.
  • Support manufacturing launch activities and cross-functional rollout efforts.
  • Create and review engineering specifications, requirements, architecture definitions, and technical documentation.
  • Work with global teams to address worldwide requirements and local content.
  • Collaborate closely with globally distributed teams, including Toolset EU, the Diagnostics team NA, and Vehicle Software Delivery ITD NA, to ensure alignment, effective coordination, and successful delivery of diagnostic solutions.
