The City of Lincoln Department of Transportation & Utilities is seeking a highly responsible individual to assist in the administration and coordination of municipal infrastructure projects and provide professional management and design services for a variety of projects ranging from routine to complex for transportation Capital Improvement Projects. The individual will be responsible for leading projects, reviews, and coordination with other entities and assigned personnel or outside consultants. The Department's mission is to responsibly deliver, enhance, and maintain vital infrastructure and services for the good of our community. This Senior Engineer position will be responsible for upholding this mission by overseeing engineering design work of the highest technical nature in the Development, Design and Construction Division. Considerable independent judgment is required in interpreting and adapting professional standards and principles as well as official policies, ordinances, regulations, and guidelines for routine and unusual engineering design issues for locally and federally funded projects. General supervision, review of work items, and establishment of goals is completed in consultation with the Development, Design & Construction Focus Area Leader while working alongside and collaborating with other Sr. Engineers and Engineers. Strong management skills, ability to communicate project concepts to a wide audience, and effective interpersonal abilities are essential.
