AMD is looking for a highly experienced and technically exceptional Serviceability Engine Lead within our Systems Design Engineering organization. In this role, you will be the primary technical authority for the design, definition, and delivery of the Serviceability Engine a critical component that underpins AMD's serviceability strategy across our product portfolio.

Requirements

  • Proven experience defining architectural specifications and driving them through the full SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) in a large, complex engineering organization.
  • Strong background in CPU, GPU, or SoC architecture with hands-on experience in one or more of: firmware, platform software.
  • Experience working alongside Program Managers to build and execute delivery plans in a matrixed, multi-BU environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering peers and executive stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with data center and cloud serviceability requirements.
  • Prior experience as a technical lead or architect in a cross-functional program with multiple hardware and software dependencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical lead for the Serviceability Engine, owning the end-to-end architectural vision, design decisions, and technical roadmap.
  • Define and document detailed architectural specifications for the Serviceability Engine, including error detection, error reporting, fault isolation, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Lead architectural reviews and design discussions with platform architects, hardware engineers, firmware teams, and software stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and drive trade-off decisions across performance, power, area, and serviceability to ensure optimal system-level outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices for serviceability across AMD's product lines.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers on the team.
  • Partner closely with Program Managers to translate business and customer requirements into well-defined, actionable engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate with Platform Architects to ensure the Serviceability Engine architecture aligns with broader platform and system-level design goals.
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of the Serviceability Engine requirements document, ensuring completeness, traceability, and alignment across all stakeholder groups.
  • Develop and own the delivery plan for the Serviceability Engine, including milestones, dependencies, resource needs, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively identify technical risks and gaps in the delivery plan and work with the program team to resolve them before they impact the schedule.
  • Act as the technical interface between the Serviceability Engine team and adjacent teams, including CPU/GPU architecture, firmware, platform software, validation, and customer-facing teams.
  • Engage with Business Units and Product Owners to understand serviceability requirements across different product segments (data center, client, embedded).
  • Represent the Serviceability Engine in architecture forums, program reviews, and executive-level milestone discussions.
  • Work with validation and test teams to define serviceability test plans, fault injection strategies, and coverage criteria.
  • Support customer and partner engagements where deep serviceability expertise is required.
