Senior Engineer, Control Systems Simulation
About The Position

The company aims to improve the way the world works through its Allison Transmission and Allison Off-Highway Drive and Motion Systems business units. In this role, the successful candidate will work on cutting-edge technology to develop innovative software tools and applications for powertrain controls engineering support. Responsibilities include designing, implementing, and testing software tools that enhance product functionality, providing reliable propulsion solutions. The engineer will be instrumental in defining the software stack for new and existing tools, from low-level hardware interactions to high-level software architecture.
Requirements
- BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science; or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of software engineering experience using C, C++, C#, Python, and Rust.
- Experience developing software tools and applications for data collection and embedded controls programming.
- Experience with GitHub for software version control & change management.
- Experience using Visual Studio or VS Code Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Veristand and LabView
- Experience with Matlab and Simulink tools
- Experience with software quality processes & tools, such as CMMI and SPICE
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and document software tools which enable & support the development & production release of Powertrain control applications.
- Support, troubleshoot, develop & release software libraries used globally in production & service diagnostic tools.
- Perform functional and unit testing, system validation, automated testing, and requirement to test traceability.
- Solicit inputs & requirements from cross-functional engineering teams of Systems, Algorithm, Calibration and Validation engineers to develop existing and new tools designed to enable & optimize engineering workflows
- Integrate custom-built tools & scripts into Software Change Management, CICD, and build environment tools off the shelf
- Analyze software behavior to find root cause for unexpected or unacceptable operation.
- Describe & present work results to peers and managers as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
