About The Position
E2 Consulting Engineers, LP (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988 specializing in a full spectrum of engineering services including, project engineering and design, federal base operations and infrastructure support services, gas pipeline construction and inspection services, environmental consulting and remediation, and information technology services. E2 is looking for a Senior BESS Engineer to join our team in our San Diego office to support various developer and electric utility clients. The Senior BESS Engineer will lead utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards and interconnection requirements. Review BESS engineering designs, power system studies, drawings and vendor documentation. The candidate will report directly to the Design Engineering Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university.
- 10+ years of experience working on BESS and/or renewable design projects with utility or consulting engineering firm.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Professional Engineer Certification preferred but not required.
- Experience with substation design and construction standards for Southern California Edison.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Responsibilities
- Lead utility-scale BESS projects from concept through commissioning.
- Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, grounding, cable sizing for BESS projects.
- Perform BESS physical design activities including drawings, specifications, and bill of materials.
- Ensure BESS design follows applicable codes, standards and interconnection requirements.
- Develop battery augmentation plans.
- Perform careful self-checking activities to ensure the quality of work.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with design team and project manager.
- Utilize client and/or company information system to track and update design activities.
- Participate/lead job site meetings to gather scope of work.
- Participate/lead in answering Request for Information (RFI) during project construction.
- Prepare computer assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and a minimum of errors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
