Overview of the role Saputo Dairy Products Canada is seeking a Senior Engineer, Automation and Control to support industrial projects across its Canadian manufacturing facilities. Reporting to the Director of Operational Technologies (OT), the role plays a key part in defining and implementing automation standards, supporting the Canadian engineering team, and planning, estimating, and executing capital projects (Capex), primarily related to automation. We are looking for a highly motivated professional with strong leadership, autonomy, and collaboration skills. Travel across Canada is required based on project needs (approximately 50%).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or other relevant training
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent knowledge of automation, including a strong understanding of PLC and HMI programming languages (Allen-Bradley, Ignition, Schneider, Wonderware, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of industrial networks and Ethernet, as well as Windows environments and virtualization
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong autonomy, and the ability to prioritize and manage urgent matters
  • Bilingual (English/French), both spoken and written
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
  • Willingness to travel across Canada (up to 50%)
  • The position holder will be required to communicate and collaborate in English and French, both orally and in writing, with colleagues or other stakeholders located in Québec, elsewhere in Canada, or across North America.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and support Canadian plants in the execution of Capex projects, mainly focused on automation
  • Perform engineering and design work related to electrical power distribution, control systems, automation (programming), and instrumentation
  • Collaborate with process and building teams in system design, control logic programming, and operator interface (HMI) development
  • Work with the engineering department buyer to define technical specifications, review bids, select equipment, and consolidate purchases to optimize costs
  • Prepare budget estimates in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams
  • Produce technical documentation including electrical layouts, power and communication diagrams, cable routing drawings, and control logic diagrams
  • Work closely with Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) teams, acting as the engineering representative
  • Actively contribute to the development, improvement, and maintenance of installations standard
