Senior Engineer / Analyst for ISRT Sensor Exploitation

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory•Laurel, MD

About The Position

We are seeking a creative and expert engineer and/or quantitative analyst to lead our efforts to conceptualize, develop, test, assess, and field the next generation of ISRT and Counter-ISRT capabilities for the US military. Our team combines an understanding of the physical processes being sensed with advanced methods of signal and image processing to build systems that make intelligent inferences about complex threats and environments. Our work enables the US military to neutralize a wider variety of serious threats from safer distances than they could otherwise accomplish; improves the safety, survivability, and effectiveness of US air, naval, and ground forces; and disrupts the ability of potential adversaries to threaten our forces.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, or other related field.
  • At least seven years of work experience in a relevant technical field (which may include doctoral and/or post-doctoral research).
  • Participated as principal investigator, key contributor, and/or key advisor on an internal or external research proposal that was funded.
  • Expertise in some of the following areas: remote sensing, signal and image processing, data fusion, statistical analysis, mathematical optimization, pattern recognition, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Skills and experience developing computational simulations of signals or images collected by ISR sensors.
  • Domain knowledge in ISR processes, systems, platforms, and sensors used by the US military and intelligence community; Navy and Air Force kill chain concepts; targeting, C2, and mission planning processes and tools; threat systems, weapon platforms and systems, and communications networks.
  • Strong inter-personal and written communications skills.
  • Skills and experience leading teams and complex technical efforts.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task, support multiple, concurrent projects, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Willing and able to work a portion of the time in secure, closed areas and travel occasionally to government sites and contractor facilities (local and non-local).
  • Hold an active Top Secret level security clearance and are able to obtain a TS/SCI-level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree in engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, physics, or other related field.
  • Hold an active TS/SCI-level security clearance.
