About The Position

Nordstrom is looking for a Senior Engineer 2 to join our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. This role will help build scalable, reliable, and resilient systems that keep Nordstrom running for millions of customers. The engineer will set and maintain high operational standards, lead key projects from concept to execution, and bring fresh thinking to how the team solves problems. The work will directly shape how seamlessly Nordstrom's systems perform. This is a team where contributions to solving complex reliability challenges and having a real, visible impact matter.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on site reliability or infrastructure
Proficiency with Kubernetes and containerization technologies
Experience with languages such as Java, Go, Python
Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
Strong networking experience and understanding of network protocols
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure their systems meet Nordstrom’s standards for operational excellence.
Mentor team members and other engineers on best practices in SRE.
Lead the design and implementation of projects aimed at improving operational excellence across the Technology Team.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability and scalability.
Develop and refine tools and automation to enhance system performance and operational efficiency.
Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for critical issues and incidents.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and reduce manual efforts through automation.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of documentation for systems and procedures.
