About The Position

Radiance Technologies is seeking talented scientists and engineers interested in microelectronics security and systems security development to join our Advanced Technology Development Operation (ATDO). ATDO focuses on the development and analysis of anti-tamper/protective technology capabilities and products, advancing the state-of-the-art in secure microelectronics packaging and system-level security for weapons systems. We are looking for an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer with the versatility to work across all design and development stages, from ideation to formal production acceptance testing for electronics subsystems. This role involves working with embedded commercial processors, ASICs, SoCs, GPUs, and FPGAs, and requires experience in turning up initial custom hardware prototype designs and maturing them into deployable solutions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a small, fast-paced, and mission-driven team environment. Experience with system security architectures and cryptography is desirable but not required.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field with 10+ years direct experience developing embedded systems (Advanced STEM degrees will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis).
  • Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Understanding of schematics.
  • Ability to perform lab tests on designs and components.
  • Experience with custom electronics turn-up, and troubleshooting and improving new and existing embedded designs.
  • Embedded Debugging / Emulation.
  • Real-time OS experience.
  • Embedded Linux and Linux hardware driver creation.
  • Expert level C programmer.
  • FPGA interface and integration.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field with 15+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Excel at verbal and written communication with customers and team members.
  • Microcode.
  • Secure Boot.
  • Bare metal development.
  • Cryptographic algorithm implementation.
  • Development of cryptographic primitives beyond encryption.
  • Advanced knowledge of Roots of Security / Secure Processors.
  • Hardware Security experience - tamper vulnerability research including hardware exploitation, side-channel attacks, fault-injection attacks, and nation-state level reverse engineering threat vectors.
  • Experience with system security architectures and cryptography.

Responsibilities

  • Work at all design and development stages for electronics subsystems utilizing embedded commercial processors, ASICs, SoCs, GPUs and FPGAs.

  • Perform custom electronics turn-up, and troubleshooting and improving new and existing embedded designs.
  • Develop embedded systems.
  • Create Linux hardware drivers.
  • Perform FPGA interface and integration.
  • Conceptualize solutions to open-ended problems, derive implementable requirements, and convey design intent to a broader team.
  • Propose new ideas, processes, tools and solutions.
  • Provide reports, technical documentation, and guidance.
  • Participate in the systems engineering process including architecture selection.
  • Author software development plans.
  • Mentor junior technical personnel.
  • Assist in capturing additional business through customer interactions, proposal development, and authoring enhanced white papers.
