About The Position

EOS Defense Systems USA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and integrate embedded software solutions for Remote Weapon Systems across multiple programs. The role bridges hardware and software, including multi-platform software for Line-Replaceable Units (LRUs), command-and-control (C2) interfaces, and discrete electrical signals that enable remote control of weapon systems. The engineer will work closely with electrical engineers, reviewing PCB schematics and component datasheets to ensure hardware supports software requirements. This is an on-site position at the company’s facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Travel may be required for customer reviews, field integration, and live-fire test operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible software engineering experience, with a strong focus on embedded systems.
  • Development experience with Microchip microcontrollers and microprocessors and their development ecosystems.
  • Experience with general C/C++ bare-metal and RTOS programming.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Government Contracting Environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret-level U.S. security clearance.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel to customer reviews or test ranges.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field.
  • Hands-on experience building custom embedded Linux distributions using the Yocto Project.
  • Proficiency with DDS publish/subscribe middleware, TCP/UDP sockets, RS-232, and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) protocols.
  • Experience developing command-and-control software and integrating EO/IR or radar systems.
  • Exposure to EO/IR test and evaluation instruments.
  • Familiarity with AI/Machine Learning concepts and their practical application to automation and targeting software in remote weapon systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust real-time software across bare-metal, FreeRTOS, and Embedded Linux environments.
  • Review PCB schematics and component datasheets and collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure hardware supports software capabilities.
  • Modify DSP-based motor-control software and enhance the Java-based Fire-Control System (FCS) to support technology upgrades.
  • Develop software for line-replaceable units, integrating command-and-control interfaces with discrete electrical signals for remote operation.
  • Integrate software with electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) and radar systems across functional teams.
  • Travel as required to support customer reviews, field integration, and live-fire test operations.
