About The Position

Client is seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to design, develop, and support firmware for IoT and video-streaming products. This role will own major firmware components throughout the product lifecycle and collaborate with hardware, cloud, mobile, QA, and manufacturing partners to deliver reliable, production-ready devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 7+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Strong Embedded C and C++ programming skills.
  • Software development experience across RTOS and Embedded Linux platforms.
  • Understanding of real-time multimedia applications, including video and audio processing, compression, and streaming technologies such as H.264 and H.265.
  • Multithreaded and multitasking embedded software development experience.
  • Experience developing and debugging embedded device drivers.
  • Strong embedded-system debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience optimizing embedded software for performance and resource utilization.
  • Working knowledge of TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, RTP, RTSP, SIP, and WebRTC.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi, BLE, and LTE wireless technologies.
  • Familiarity with IoT communication architectures and cloud-connected devices.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Experience using Git or a comparable source-control system.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Firmware development experience involving consumer IoT, smart-home, networking, or video-streaming products.
  • Experience with Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread, or Matter.
  • Knowledge of Linux memory management, file systems, and bootloaders such as U-Boot.
  • Python, Perl, or Lua scripting experience.
  • Experience supporting products through manufacturing and production.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT and video-streaming products.
  • Own major firmware components and features from initial design through production.
  • Develop and integrate device drivers, communication protocols, RTOS components, and platform firmware.
  • Collaborate with hardware, cloud, mobile, QA, and original design manufacturer partners on system integration and product delivery.
  • Troubleshoot complex firmware, hardware, and system-level issues.
  • Optimize firmware for performance, memory usage, power consumption, resource utilization, and reliability.
  • Review board schematics, component datasheets, and hardware documentation to support development and debugging.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and root-cause analysis.
  • Evaluate SoCs, image sensors, wireless modules, and other components for future products.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and process improvements.
