Senior Embedded Engineer

Anduril•Waltham, MA

About The Position

The Anduril Imaging team develops imaging systems across hardware and software, using computer vision, perception, electro-optical, infrared, and sensor data to address security challenges. The team is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer to design new product lines. The engineer will work with an interdisciplinary technical team to define and complete designs and analyses, build prototypes for ground and flight testing, and mature prototypes into products. The role leads FPGA architecture, standards, development, and review processes. It includes designing, architecting, simulating, and integrating VHDL designs into FPGAs or SoCs; integrating firmware with the wider system, including processor bring-up and board support packages; developing test benches and validating designs with lab equipment; and optimizing algorithms for hardware acceleration, MIPS, and on-chip bus protocols such as AXI and AXI-Stream.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices.
  • Expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design.
  • Experience with industry-standard FPGA design tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
  • Strong hardware/software debugging skills using standard lab equipment.
  • Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience designing with multi-gigabit SERDES, DDR memory buses, Ethernet MAC and PHY interfaces, FPGAs, and common communication buses such as SPI and I2C.
  • Embedded software development experience using timers, interrupts, and hardware peripherals such as SPI controllers and ADCs.
  • Knowledge of embedded Linux development, including device trees, hardware drivers, bootloaders, and basic Unix/Linux tools.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with infrared image sensor technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FPGA architecture, standards, development, and review processes.
  • Design, architect, simulate, and integrate VHDL designs into FPGAs or Systems on Chip for optimized performance, resource utilization, and power efficiency.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate firmware with the overall system, including processor bring-up and board support packages.
  • Develop VHDL/Verilog test benches and use lab tools to test and validate designs against functional specifications and performance requirements.
  • Optimize algorithms for hardware acceleration, MIPS, and efficient use of on-chip bus protocols such as AXI and AXI-Stream.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
