It also contributes to laboratory processes, quality assurance, technical documentation, and the training and mentorship of junior technicians and interns. Work is primarily performed in an electronics laboratory, engineering workspace, or controlled assembly environment. The position involves hands-on work with electronic components, precision tools, laboratory equipment, and technical hardware, while following applicable safety procedures and maintaining careful attention to detail when handling sensitive electronic assemblies. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; any additional citizenship or access requirements depend on specific projects and contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent combinations of education, training, certifications, and directly relevant hands-on experience may also be considered.
  • At least five years of relevant hands-on electronics experience.
  • Strong understanding of AC and DC circuits, digital electronics, and electronic components.
  • Proficiency in soldering, desoldering, electronic assembly, rework, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic circuits and assemblies using standard test and measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with wiring, connectors, cable fabrication, circuit boards, and component-level repairs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, reliability, and repeatable processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting aerospace, space systems, defense, scientific instrumentation, or other high-reliability electronic hardware.
  • Experience assembling and testing prototype electronics or low-volume, high-complexity hardware.
  • Familiarity with electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls and handling sensitive electronic components.
  • Experience with IPC soldering or electronics assembly standards, such as IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-A-610.
  • Experience with cable and wire harness fabrication, connector termination, and precision rework.
  • Familiarity with printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience maintaining test equipment, laboratory procedures, and hardware configuration records.
  • Previous experience mentoring technicians, training interns, or leading technical work.
  • Experience with cleanroom environments or controlled assembly environments.
  • An associate degree or higher in electronics technology, electrical engineering technology, or a related discipline combined with at least five years of relevant experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, modify, and integrate electronic components, circuit boards, cables, and hardware for aerospace and mission-critical applications.
  • Diagnose electronic hardware issues, perform functional testing, and use laboratory equipment to verify performance and support root-cause analysis.
  • Perform soldering, desoldering, component replacement, and circuit board rework and repair in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Follow established quality and ESD procedures and maintain accurate assembly records, test results, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain tools and test equipment, manage electronic components and supplies, and support laboratory organization and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on prototype development, hardware integration, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and interns and assist with developing work instructions and training materials.
