Senior Electronics Engineer

AutoStore™•Atlanta, GA

About The Position

AutoStore is hiring a Senior Electronics Engineer to take high-volume products from concept to launch. The role owns printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) throughout development and production, including resolving complex challenges such as electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) failures during certification and yield drops at electronics manufacturing services (EMS) partners. The engineer will make design trade-offs that address these issues without compromising long-term reliability. The position leads electrical and electronic system design from concept and architecture through schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, prototyping, validation, and production release. It also involves owning hardware architecture, component strategy, bill-of-materials cost and risk, compliance, manufacturing and test readiness, new product introduction, and collaboration with firmware teams. Designs must be robust and resistant to noise on moving robotic platforms.

Requirements

  • At least 9 years of electronics engineering experience spanning analog, digital, and power electronics.
  • Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing with global EMS suppliers.
  • Experience with sensor interface design and embedded communication bus design in electrically noisy, electromechanical environments.
  • Experience with common serial communication protocols.
  • Experience architecting and designing advanced motor driver PCBAs and power electronics.
  • Experience designing embedded electronics and systems ranging from resource-constrained microcontroller platforms to Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Experience with safety and compliance issues involving fault detection, safe-state designs, and diagnostics.
  • Deep, practical understanding of EMC and design-for-EMC.
  • Experience with DFM and DFT for high-volume electromechanical products.
  • Experience with battery-powered systems and system power budgeting.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, including setting direction for others, reviewing designs, and mentoring.
  • Master's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering; relevant experience may substitute for formal education.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical and electronic system design and development from concept through architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, prototyping, validation, and production release.
  • Set hardware architecture, component strategy, and bill-of-materials cost and risk profile.
  • Design schematics and layouts to ensure signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal performance.
  • Lead and execute root-cause analysis.
  • Own EMC and safety compliance, from design-for-EMC through pre-compliance and formal certification.
  • Lead DFM, DFT, and DFx with EMS partners, and define production test strategy and coverage.
  • Own new product introduction, pilot builds, and production builds.
  • Partner with the firmware team on control discussions, implementation, and fault handling.
  • Design robust technology with the noise immunity required by a moving robotic platform.
  • Provide technical leadership by setting direction, reviewing designs, and mentoring.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with a company contribution.
  • Generous paid time off, including 12 holidays.
  • Paid exercise time.
  • Paid volunteer time.
  • Paid parental leave plans for all new parents.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match and a discretionary profit-sharing contribution.
  • Educational assistance and professional development programs, including mentorship and coaching programs with external industry leaders.
  • Group life insurance.
  • Voluntary additional life insurance.
  • Disability insurance.
