About The Position

Hendrick Technical Solutions is seeking a Senior Electronics Assembly Technician to build, rework, and test printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for government and commercial programs. The position is part of the Production team and works closely with electrical engineers to take boards from prototype and first article through repeatable production. When PCB work is not in the queue, the technician supports vehicle-platform wiring production by building and testing wire harnesses and cable assemblies. The role suits someone comfortable in a low-volume, high-mix environment, where work changes as programs move from prototype to recurring production. The technician is expected to become the go-to person for PCB builds, partner with electrical engineers, build boards correctly, investigate failures, identify design issues before production, and keep wiring production moving when board work is light. The position is not remote and must regularly be performed at the assigned office location in Charlotte, North Carolina. Scheduled shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • At least five years of hands-on PCB assembly, rework, or electronics technician experience.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, drawings, bills of materials, or wire lists and determine how to begin the work.
  • Strong soldering and troubleshooting skills.
  • Discipline to document every build.
  • U.S. Person status, as the role involves ITAR-controlled technical data.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work as a team player.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or IPC-7711/7721 certification.
  • Reflow profiling and conformal coating experience.
  • Component-level troubleshooting using multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Wire harness and cable assembly experience, including IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Prototype and first-article build experience.
  • ERP/MRP system experience; Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
  • Defense, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing experience.
  • GED or high school diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Hand-solder SMT and THT components, including fine-pitch parts, to IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 standards.
  • Perform rework and repair, including component replacement, trace and pad repair, and conformal coating.
  • Inspect, power up, and functionally test assembled boards, and troubleshoot failures to the component level.
  • Build prototype and first-article boards with electrical engineers and provide design-for-manufacturability feedback.
  • Turn engineering builds into written, repeatable work instructions for production.
  • Build, route, and test wire harnesses and cable assemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 when PCB workload allows.
  • Verify kits against the BOM and maintain travelers, traceability, and build records by serial number.
  • Follow ESD, FOD, and moisture-sensitive device handling practices.
  • Communicate build status and risks to the Operations Manager.
  • Help train other technicians as the team grows.
