About The Position

BMO Capital Markets is seeking a Senior Electronic Sales Trader (Managing Director or Director) to support the growth of its Equities Electronic Trading franchise. This role is focused on driving new growth by developing relationships and expanding client engagement across the platform. The ideal candidate will be a driven, entrepreneurial electronic sales trading director who wants to leverage a growth-focused business supported by significant investment in algorithms, infrastructure, and analytics. This role offers a true sales origination and trading production opportunity, converting investments into measurable revenue growth through disciplined execution, intelligent risk-taking, and creative commercial strategy.

Requirements

  • At the Director or Managing Director level, the candidate will have a strong external reputation and the internal leadership skills to collaborate closely with trading, product, and technology partners.
  • 10+ years of experience covering institutional clients with direct accountability for revenue origination, growth, and relationship ownership.
  • Proven success as a revenue-producing electronic sales trader with deep low-touch and algorithmic expertise.
  • Strong execution credibility across market structure, TCA analysis, workflow optimization, and performance diagnostics, ideally from performance-led platform environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead front-footed, pitch-driven conversations with portfolio managers, traders, and execution teams.
  • Translate complex market structure, algorithmic behavior, and performance data into clear client value.
  • Win mandates through execution quality, algorithm differentiation, workflow optimization, and TCA-driven outcomes.
  • Own end-to-end origination, growing low-touch and algorithmic equity execution relationships.
  • Proactively develop institutional client relationships with a clear strategy to expand presence in underpenetrated and competitive accounts.
  • Apply an entrepreneurial yet disciplined approach to sales execution, focused on sustainable growth and consistent outcomes.
  • Serve as the commercial tip of the spear, driving client adoption, usage, and revenue.
  • Provide continuous client feedback to ensure technology investments convert into sustained revenue growth.
  • Act as a senior ambassador of the electronic trading franchise internally and externally.
  • Bring a strong personal brand and market credibility to elevate the platform.
  • Partner cross-functionally while maintaining clear individual production accountability.
