About The Position

Performs various expert-level electronic component level repairs using complex techniques and procedures to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair complex problems on a broad range of industrial electronics including but not limited to the following: Drives (AC, DC, VFD, Servo) PLC’s, Power Supplies, HMI’s, Laser scanners, AC Motors, DC Motors, Servo Motors, Circuit Boards, and other Industrial electronics. Requires an Advanced level of electronic component level expertise and aptitude. Works under minimal supervision and may give direction and guidance to less experienced technicians.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and more than ten years related experience and/or training; or twelve years equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert understanding of electronic components and how they are used in the industry.
  • Must possess an advanced level of electronic and/or mechanical skills.
  • Ability to: read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization; calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and troubleshoots electronics of advanced complexity at the component level.
  • Troubleshoots utilizing a majority of the following: Huntron tracker, Multimeter, curve tracer, process calibrator, megger test, baker test, Hipot tester, chip reader, and more.
  • Solders and desolders circuit board components effectively and efficiently.
  • May assist with new product development.
  • Communicates with customers and may travel to customer sites.
  • Designs fixtures and performs warranty and root-cause analysis.
  • Reviews and edits standard repair processes and develops cycle time improvements.
  • Achieves year‑over‑year productivity increases.
  • Takes responsibility in setting standards/methods for testing methodology.
  • Processes required service report paperwork.
  • Assists less experienced technicians and may provide direction, guidance and backup for department.
  • Participates in Quality Initiative; continually improves processes; quantitatively monitors processes. Completes required quality core classes and uses skills and techniques presented. Uses the Core Values in work environment. Adheres to company/customer safety procedures.
