About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Technician to join our Electrical & Electronics team. This is a hands-on role supporting the build, testing, development and diagnostics of complex vehicle electrical and electronic systems. You will work across production, prototype and pre-production builds, manufacturing wiring harnesses and electrical assemblies, carrying out on-vehicle diagnostics and supporting engineering development activities. The role would suit someone with experience in OEM, Tier 1, engineering consultancy or motorsport environments who is confident working with complex vehicle electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Engineering Technician, Electrical Technician or Build Technician within an OEM, Tier 1 supplier, engineering consultancy, motorsport or similar environment.
  • Proven experience building complex vehicle wiring harnesses, sensors and test boxes.
  • Experience with DR25 fully sealed harness systems, Roundit 2000 and MIL-Spec connectors.
  • Strong vehicle electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to interpret electrical/engineering drawings, technical documentation and work instructions.
  • Experience working to detailed processes, procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Good mechanical and electrical diagnostic and fault-finding capability.
  • Basic fabrication and machining skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, service and test production-level electrical and electronic assemblies in accordance with work instructions and safe working practices.
  • Carry out prototype and pre-production builds, helping to develop assembly processes and work instructions and resolve issues before volume production.
  • Manufacture one-off prototype LV and HV wiring harnesses, electrical sensors, test rigs and assemblies.
  • Undertake on-vehicle wiring, electrical remedial work, diagnostics and fault finding using appropriate test equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation and detailed work instructions.
  • Plan and manage your own workload in conjunction with the departmental manager, ensuring work is delivered to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Use the 5C Concerns Process to identify, capture and track engineering concerns through to effective resolution.
  • Create and maintain accurate build and test records throughout the build process.
  • Support product testing, demonstrations and engineering events.
  • Maintain and develop technical competence through appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Research new technologies and processes that could improve engineering capability.
  • Follow relevant company procedures, engineering standards, guides and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with 5S principles.
  • Provide technical advice and support to colleagues and junior team members where required.
