About The Position

Leidos’ Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department is seeking a talented Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. As a technical contributor, the individual will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems. Leidos Defense Systems Sector provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Solutions for Defense include enterprise and mission IT, large-scale intelligence systems, command and control, geospatial and data analytics, cybersecurity, logistics, training, and intelligence analysis and operations support. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 12+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation or 10+ years with MS degree.
  • Experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
  • Cable design experience
  • Proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain SECRET clearance and maintain that clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards.
  • Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems
  • Experience supporting cable production
  • Experience with high power applications
  • Familiarity with AS50881 NASA Derating Standard

Responsibilities

  • System level electrical architecture and design
  • Creation of block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings
  • Component selection and derating activities
