About The Position

Leidos’ Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department is seeking a talented Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. As a technical contributor, the individual will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems. Leidos Defense Systems Sector provides a diverse portfolio of systems, solutions, and services covering land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace for customers worldwide. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
12+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation or 10+ years with MS degree.
Experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
Capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
Cable design experience
Proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Must possess or be able to obtain SECRET clearance and maintain that clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards.
Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems
Experience supporting cable production
Experience with high power applications
Familiarity with AS50881 NASA Derating Standard

Responsibilities

System level electrical architecture and design
Creation of block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings
Component selection and derating activities
New hardware design verification testing
Support system level integration activities
