This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Substation & Transmission business, supporting the design and delivery of critical electrical infrastructure that powers communities and industries today and into the future. Electrical professionals contribute to physical substation design, including equipment layouts, control house arrangements, grounding systems, raceway design, cable routing, foundation coordination, and other systems supporting high-voltage substations. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Senior Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high-quality engineering 2D and 3D deliverables for complex substation infrastructure projects. Under minimal supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring advanced knowledge of substation engineering principles and design practices, with a focus on creating and modifying physical substation design drawings and models using advanced techniques in industry-standard design tools such as Bentley MicroStation, AutoCAD, Inventor and Revit. This role requires the ability to develop detailed engineering deliverables including substation plans, sections, elevations, equipment layouts, conduit design, grounding layouts, and construction packages. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements while collaborating with engineers, designers, and project teams to deliver accurate and constructible designs.
