About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer focuses on the design, development, and implementation of medium and low-voltage electrical systems for advanced power generation and microgrid applications. They will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of electrical infrastructure—spanning 13.8 kV generator systems, switchgear architecture, 480 V distribution networks, and motor control center (MCC) design. Core responsibilities include the application of generator and transformer protection philosophies, development of protection relay schemes, and implementation of ANSI protection functions to ensure system reliability and safety. The role also involves performing detailed load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies using ETAP and similar analysis tools to optimize system performance. The Senior Electrical Engineer will contribute to project execution from conceptual design and documentation (including one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, protection coordination studies, and equipment specifications) through factory testing, field commissioning, and final handover of fully operational systems.

  • Knowledge of supply chain software preferred (SAGE300).
  • Knowledge of drawing software packages preferred (AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Knowledge of GE and other gas turbine related mechanical subsystems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key stakeholder in the design, development, and implementation of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, including 13.8 kV generator switchgear, 480 V distribution, MCCs, and protection relay schemes for power generation and microgrid applications.
  • Act as the primary engineering liaison for new-build manufacturing of mobile power generation packages driven by gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and hybrid systems integrating energy storage and auxiliary power modules.
  • Lead electrical design activities encompassing generator and transformer protection, load flow and coordination studies, grounding and bonding design, and integration of protective relays using ANSI-standard protection functions.
  • Develop and maintain process specifications to standardize design and testing practices, ensuring consistent quality across all power generation and distribution systems.
  • Create detailed component and system specifications to support accurate procurement and manufacturing of electrical assemblies, including switchgear lineups, MCCs, and transformer protection panels.
  • Prepare and validate documentation packages defining operational and test criteria for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Review and approve electrical system drawings—such as single-line diagrams, control schematics, and wiring diagrams—to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company design philosophies.
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and maintenance of generator systems, switchgear, and auxiliary power distribution equipment, both in the field and during factory validation.
  • Perform detailed redline and markup reviews of electrical drawings to support the engineering document control and revision process; serve as an approver for final design releases.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of product designs, ensuring scalability and reliability of power generation systems across multiple voltage levels.
  • Develop and manage technical content for operation and maintenance manuals related to power generation, protection, and distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate and qualify electrical equipment vendors, review technical proposals, and ensure specification compliance.
  • Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting, fault analysis, and technical support for deployed assets to ensure optimal system performance and uptime.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.
