In the role of Senior Electrical Engineer, we'll count on you to lead the Electrical team and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams throughout all phases of water, wastewater, and other industrial projects to develop and deliver high-quality engineering solutions and project deliverables. You will establish and maintain client relationships and participate in business development, proposal efforts, design reviews, and production meetings related to electrical systems. You will serve as the electrical discipline lead for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and other critical infrastructure projects. You will participate in reviews with governing agencies to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements. You will coordinate workload throughout project development to deliver work on schedule, track project financial performance and coordinate team resources to ensure work is completed within agreed-upon budgets and schedules. You will work with the Project Manager and Regional Controller to support project reviews with corporate management as needed. You will direct the activities of electrical engineering professionals and mentor junior staff members. You will lead the design and coordination of electrical infrastructure for water and wastewater facilities, utility service entrances, standby generation systems, automatic transfer switches, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, SCADA systems, instrumentation power, and power monitoring systems. You will support construction administration activities, including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, field observations, and startup/commissioning support. You will perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing electrical systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, booster stations, and other municipal infrastructure facilities
  • Knowledge of standby power systems, emergency power requirements, motor control systems, VFD applications, and SCADA integration
  • Experience with utility coordination, power system studies, short-circuit analysis, arc flash analysis, and protective device coordination
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater industry standards, regulations, and permitting requirements
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering consulting firm
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit
