GTI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical architecture and schematic development of modular Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role is responsible for designing electrical distribution systems, protection schemes, control architectures, and equipment interfaces supporting integrated battery energy storage platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing industrial power systems involving high-power electrical distribution, protection coordination, and integration of inverters, transformers, switchgear, and monitoring systems within production-driven engineering environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience designing industrial electrical systems, power infrastructure, or integrated electrical equipment
  • Experience with electrical power distribution, protection systems, and schematic development
  • Experience integrating inverters, transformers, switchgear, battery systems, or related industrial power equipment
  • Strong understanding of electrical documentation supporting manufacturing and production engineering environments
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within fast-paced engineering and manufacturing teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy systems, or microgrid power systems
  • Familiarity with UL 9540, UL 1741, NEC, and energy storage safety frameworks
  • Experience integrating SCADA, EMS, PLC, or energy monitoring systems
  • Exposure to commissioning, FAT testing, and electrical troubleshooting of integrated systems
  • Experience supporting modular infrastructure, industrial equipment integration, or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical architectures for modular BESS platforms including AC and DC power distribution systems
  • Develop single line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable schedules
  • Integrate battery systems, battery management systems (BMS), PCS inverters, transformers, switchgear, and auxiliary electrical systems
  • Define grounding strategies, isolation methods, and electrical protection schemes for high-power energy systems
  • Support redundant and fault-tolerant electrical designs aligned with system reliability and safety objective
  • Develop monitoring, alarm, shutdown, and control logic supporting safe battery operation
  • Evaluate electrical risks including fault current analysis, protection coordination, thermal impacts, and system isolation requirements
  • Support designs aligned with UL 9540 energy storage certification requirements and applicable electrical safety standards
  • Coordinate with controls, software, and integration teams supporting SCADA, EMS, and energy monitoring interfaces
  • Support commissioning activities, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), troubleshooting, and field support as require
  • Coordinate electrical system design with mechanical layouts, enclosure constraints, thermal systems, and manufacturing requirements
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Integration teams throughout product development and production
  • Support equipment selection, technical evaluations, vendor coordination, and electrical design reviews
  • Participate in design reviews, prototype builds, and production launch activities
  • Develop production-ready electrical documentation supporting manufacturing, assembly, integration, and field service
  • Maintain strong engineering documentation discipline including revision control, BOM support, drawing packages, and change management
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to electrical integration, commissioning, or production issues
  • Assist in standardizing electrical architectures and documentation practices across BESS platforms
