About The Position

Kleinfelder is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer to join their collaborative, multidisciplinary group. This role will focus on delivering challenging projects in the gas transmission & distribution and oil & gas sectors, providing electrical engineering support to project teams to ensure technical excellence, cost, schedule, and contractual requirements are met. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with the design team to ensure plans and drawings meet project specifications, and will also be involved in project management duties, stakeholder communication, and documentation preparation. This position is ideal for a senior-level Electrical Engineer with a positive, collaborative attitude, strong technical knowledge, enthusiasm for challenges, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical engineering field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive professional project management, project engineering or discipline engineering in the gas or related industry.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project documents and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Recent experience in executing multi-faceted and multi-disciplined small to medium size projects.
  • Ability to effectively review the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Familiar with relevant electrical codes (NFPA, IEEE, ICC, API, ANSI, NEC).
  • Familiar with the development of P&IDs, DBM’s, single line diagrams, and other key design documents.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in the natural gas or oil & gas midstream industry.
  • Experience with electrical power system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, motor starting, harmonic evaluation, grounding, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of CAD design software and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical engineering activities to meet contractual scope, codes, standards, and company procedures.
  • Perform calculations including load studies, lighting levels, hazardous area classifications, junction box, distribution panel, conduit fill, and cable sizing.
  • Identify appropriate electrical components for construction based on project, code, and company standards.
  • Approve and stamp drawings such as HAC, grounding, conduit, connection diagrams, electrical panel arrangements, and system architectures.
  • Ensure work is properly executed on time and within budget.
  • Analyze technical issues within electrical engineering, with support from other specialist disciplines.
  • Develop work plans and execution strategies considering schedule, budget, and scope constraints.
  • Develop project design criteria, design basis, and electrical specifications.
  • Develop specific electrical systems, equipment, skid and module packages design criteria, sizing, and specifications.
  • Perform detailed reviews of project electrical design specifications, design drawings, and standard detail drawings.
  • Provide modifications to technical drawings and work plans for drafters based on engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Review and ensure designers complete required corrections to meet project standards.
  • Report progress of work to the Engineering Manager and ensure coordination between engineering and design teams.
  • Mentor and supervise junior team members.
  • Assist in the development of work practices and procedures.
  • Identify schedule or budget slippages and implement changes to resolve complex issues.
  • Assist in creating other project documents like Requests for Information, Purchase Recommendations, and P&IDs.
  • Partner with stakeholders in proposal writing, marketing presentations, and organizing internal resources for prospects.
  • Support business development by identifying potential opportunities for Kleinfelder.
  • Assist in creating work document packages during project closeout.
  • Travel to the field for project scoping, verification, construction support, and client meetings.
  • Attend and host team/project meetings and client meetings.
  • Complete other relevant duties as required.
