About The Position

Join our team as a Senior Electrical Engineer leading complex design, construction, and commissioning activities for major industrial and nuclear projects. Requirements

  • Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • 10+ years of relevant design implementation/construction support experience (experience with green field construction and/or nuclear industry are assets).
  • Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems, including preparation of Single Line diagrams, Elementary Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Cable Block Diagrams and schedules, and calculation of power demand/ electrical load lists.
  • Experience with transformer sizing, cable sizing, circuit breaker sizing calculations.
  • Good working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, such as of CSA 22.1, Canadian Electrical Code Part I and The Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC).
  • Familiar with specifying and procurement support for electrical equipment such as Transformers, MCCs, low voltage distribution load centers, UPS systems including rectifiers and inverters and Diesel Generators (emergency and standby), power and control and instrumentation cables.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in modelling electrical power systems and use of analysis functions in ETAP, or other similar software program is an asset.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of OPG and/or BP Engineering Change Control (ECC) process, standards and procedures is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical documents, such as: engineering drawings (including GAs, DDs, EDs), change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, design manuals, bill of materials, design specifications, technical specifications, component specification sheets, commissioning specifications, etc.
  • Lead team of design engineers, field construction and execution activities, such as field changes, design revisions, commissioning, AFS, closeout, etc.
  • Perform engineering work following internal as well our clients procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare scope of work, input to bid proposals and requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement.
  • Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders, provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters to execute assigned engineering work.
  • Provide prompt response and engineering resolutions on any critical engineering related matters.
  • Perform field walk-downs during different design phases and prepare Walkdown reports as required.
